EleSafari was created by Ilu, whose lifelong bond with elephants began in the traditional elephant community of Jaipur. Growing up around these gentle giants shaped his understanding of their emotions, needs, and cultural significance. After completing his higher studies, Ilu chose to dedicate his life to ethical elephant care, responsible tourism, and community upliftment—a path driven by purpose rather than profession.
What started as a personal effort to support local mahouts soon evolved into EleSafari: a sanctuary-style, immersive elephant experience designed to educate travellers and promote compassionate tourism. Ilu’s vision continues to guide the experience, ensuring every guest connects with elephants in the most respectful and meaningful way.
The heart of EleSafari beats within our team of mahouts, caretakers, and hospitality hosts. Many of our mahouts belong to ancestral lineages that have cared for elephants for hundreds of years. This ancient tradition, once central to Rajasthan’s royal heritage, is now endangered as modern lifestyles shift and fewer young people continue the legacy.
By working with EleSafari, these families preserve their heritage—passing down wisdom, empathy, and elephant-care practices that have been honed through generations. Their dedication keeps this rare cultural tradition alive, while ensuring each elephant receives the love and attention it deserves.
Our hospitality team complements their work, offering guests seamless guidance, warm interactions, and authentic Indian hospitality rooted in “Atithi Devo Bhava”.
